The Chinese language is one of the most difficult languages to master, but with the recent business activity increasing in China it has become one of the most sought after.

There are now schools around the world that offer classes to those young and old.

within China, learning Chinese in the Northern part of the country is preferred by many as their accents are considered to be "purer" or "standard".

for many, this means studying in the capital city Beijing, however programs in Harbin, Qingdao, and Dalian are also popular with those looking for more of an immersion experience.

Some of the more well renowned schools are:

Beijing:
1) TLI - TLI is a well known program among consular staff and professionals for their 1-on-1 intensive programs. Per hour rates are more expensive than the university programs, but the learning curve is much steeper

2) Beijing Culture and Language University - Another strong program, BCLU is a university that focuses solely on teaching Chinese language and culture. classes range in size (up to 20), and there are numerous events and classes that can be taken in outside of language class. Tuition is middle road

3) Beijing University - Beijing's top university is also a popular destination for many.

Shanghai:

1) Fudan University - Shanghai's top university

2) Jiaotong University -

3) TLI

4) Mandarin House - Mandarin House offers group classes, private tutoring and corporate training with seven locations in Shanghai

5) Modern Mandarin - focused more on tutoring executives, modern Mandarin has three campuses: Pudong Lujiazui, Puxi Xujiahui and Jing’an Temple
